Charcoal Crackers

This is a very basic cracker recipe. They are visually interesting a take only a few minute to make. They were made to be served with beetroot hummus as part of a valentines themed menu.

Makes about 15 crackers depending on size

Ingredients

100g wholewheat flour (plain flour if you don’t want the speckled effect)

3- 4 tsp activated charcoal powder (I just emptied capsules form a health food store)

~70 ml water

Coarsley ground sea salt

Method

Preheat oven to 220C

Mix four and charcoal in a mixing bowl and create a well in the centre

Add the water a bit at a time and stir until a dough forms. Add more water or flour if needed.

Roll the dough between parchment paper so you don’t need to add white flour to the outside of the cracker which would affect it’s appearance.

Roll as thin as you can! They are not nice if too thick.

Bake for 12-15 minutes
